Kathy Garbutt
Kathy Garbutt has been involved with Faith Christian School for many years and is now bringing her love for and dedication to FCS into the classroom in her first year on staff serving as an elementary aide. Kathy has previous experience as a preschool aide, family manager of four wonderful children which she homeschooled for seven years, group fitness instructor, and has coached functional training for kids.
Tell us a little about your family: I’m a born and raised Cali girl who met my Fresno sweetheart in Riverside, California where he was going to college. I’m a proud Mama of four kids: two have already graduated from FCHS, Aaron ('10) and James ('14), and two are currently attending FCS, Rachel is a senior and Benjamin is in 5th grade.
What is your favorite meal? Breakfast. Homemade granola or oatmeal.
What is an interesting job you have had in the past? I have worked in Christian bookstores, Berean being my favorite since it’s where I met my hubby.
If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go? Anywhere? Hmmmm…Italy, Ireland...but I’d take Hawaii too!
What do you like to do in your spare time? Haha..learning what that is..I do like exercising.
What is your favorite Bible verse? "Show me Your ways Lord, teach me your paths. Guide me in Your truth, and teach me, for Your are my God my savior, and my hope is in you all day long.” Psalm 25:4-5
The best part about following Jesus is…His never ending Grace! He never ever fails me. Experiencing His love is the best thing about following Jesus!
What church do you attend? We attend Adventure Church where I serve in the worship ministry and my husband is in children’s ministry. We also like to help with community events.
What do you love most about your area of service at FCS? I appreciate helping in any area at our school. I’ve been helping for years in the high school as a chaperone, coaching, leading junior and senior girls group. My current area of service is aiding at the elementary. What I love most about it - the staff - such a genuinely caring family. I love the environment that I have the privilege to work in.
What does Faith Christian School mean to you? As a parent, it means knowing my kids AND my family are being prayed for. It means not only a quality education but an atmosphere of caring teachers who we appreciate and support. I’ve seen the impact this school has had on our kids even after graduation. Faith was instrumental in their spiritual growth and encouraging their walk with Christ as well.
Why are you glad to be on the FCS team? I’m honored to be on a team that puts God first!
How have you been ministered to here at Faith Christian? Hearing my kids talk about all the school has meant to them? That’s huge. Thank you for ministering to my kids! They have priceless memories made here. Community services, chapels, outreaches...
