Rick Daugherty has been teaching Bible and Visual Arts at Faith for 12 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Cal State East Bay and a Masters of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. Previous to teaching at Faith, he served in pastoral ministries for over 25 years. In addition to his teaching responsibility, Rick serves as the school’s Chaplain, High School Activities Director, and Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.

Tell us a little about your family:  My wife Anita and I have been married over 30 years.  Each of us is from the Midwest, with Anita being from Kentucky and myself being from Indiana. We have three grown children, each of whom work in different areas of the medical field. One in the area of dental hygiene,  and two in elderly care.

What other interesting jobs have you had?  I thoroughly enjoyed pastoring a local church. The relationships built with individuals of that congregation were meaningful and encouraging. Although I served in a ministry position, I felt I received much more than I ever gave.

What do you like to do in your spare time?  I feel like I am the most blessed of all teachers for I get to be involved in that which I like to do in my spare time. I enjoy many different mediums of art and love to chill out watching or playing basketball, when I am not involved in Bible studies or ministries at my church.

What other ministries are you involved in and how?  My wife and I attend River Valley Church of Tierra Buena.  I am actively involved in filling in for local pastors and speaking at their churches, as well as for my own pastor.

What is your favorite Bible verse?  II Corinthians 12:9 “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” -  It is amazing to me that God chooses to use imperfect people to accomplish His perfect will. Praise God for His grace, for it indeed, is sufficient for all my needs.

The best part about following Jesus is...the privilege of being used by God to have a part in things of a spiritual and eternal nature in the lives of others. I feel this gives my personal life ultimate purpose.

What is a favorite memory of FCS?  Time spent in Unity Groups where students would share their personal beliefs openly and honestly.

What does Faith Christian School mean to you?  Being a teacher at Faith Christian means that I have the opportunity and privilege of having input into the lives of tomorrows leaders.  However, even more important, I have the opportunity to be used by God to influence the spiritual lives of young men and women, because at Faith we teach not only the things that other schools teach, but we teach the things that matter for eternity.
