Christmas Concert and Art Exhibit Showcases Student Talent

December 07, 2016
By Faith Christian School

On December 5th the FCS Family and friends gathered to enjoy an evening of student fine art presentation and, what was for many, a delightful beginning to their Christmas season!

In the foyer of the First United Methodist Church of Yuba City, student artwork was on display from junior high pencil drawings through high school watercolor and acrylic paintings.  Parents admired the projects that their children had completed during the fall semester.  Art instructor, Rick Daugherty, does an amazing job of introducing our students to a wide variety of media, skills and design.

The Christmas Concert included many musicians from what musical director, Raymond Wisner, aptly described as the "Faith Christian Family."  Elementary, junior high, and high school students as well as alumni, parents and even grandparents were among the performing artists.

The concert began with Christmas carols by the String Ensemble and continued with many treasured classics performed by the Concert Band.  Enjoy this excerpt of "Ding, Dong! Merrily on High" and hear the Christmas bells ringing out from the percussion section!

The concert concluded with our second and third year elementary winds and string players each performing a song.  It was a treat for their parents to hear how much progress they are making.

The benefits of being involved in a quality arts program are various and many.  Studies show that learning experience in the arts helps students excel academically, developmentally, socially, and emotionally - see more on our website.  All arts instruction is included in our school tuition so that every student has the opportunity to take advantage of this educational enrichment and enjoyment!
